December 2010
Though we're all grown up, we still feel like little kids during
the holidays. That magical feeling lingers on- the anticipation,
the excitement, the wonder. It's easy to get swept away- the city
dripping with glittering lights, the streets alive with bustling
shoppers, and the shop windows dressed up like never before. This
year, Printemps, in Paris, hired Lanvin designer, Alber Elbaz, to
design the holiday windows. The theme is Noel Chateau, and
the decadent windows show Mr. and Miss Lanvin marionettes danced in
different rooms in the chateau. In New York, Bergdorf Goodman had a
fantasy travel theme, with "Wish You Were Here" written on the
windows. The windows showcased high-fashion traveling via
steam boat, train, carriages and even winged-horse. This
whimsical video shows the creativity and hard work that goes into
making the elaborate Christmas windows, including the Swarovski
crystal-encrusted alligator. I can imagine myself, 6 years
old again, pressing my nose against the cold glass,
mesmerized. Click here to view the video: Making of Bergdorf Goodman Holiday Windows
